Shibuya Sky opened in November 2019 on top of Shibuya Scramble Square. At about 229 metres it is well below Skytree — what it has that they do not is an open roof.
You can hear Tokyo from up there and feel the wind, which is considerably colder than the street. The best part is also the part weather can take away — understand that before you book.
The entrance is on the 14th floor, reached through the shopping levels. There is nothing at street level to walk into.
10:00–22:30 daily. Last entry 21:20.
The open-air rooftop closes in rain, high wind or lightning. The indoor Sky Gallery remains open; tickets stay valid but are not automatically refunded.
Bags must be stored in free lockers at the 14F entrance before the rooftop. Large luggage is not allowed on the open deck.
Tripods and selfie sticks are not permitted on the open-air Sky Stage.
Which slot
The three admission tickets differ only in when they let you up — the deck is three different experiences depending on the hour.
Daytime shows scale and is the quietest, cheapest slot. The first hour after opening is emptiest.
Sunset is the one to book if you are going once — arrive about an hour before the sun sets. Also the busiest hour.
Night is underrated: cheaper than sunset, thinner crowds, and the deck lighting is at its best. You lose the sky.
About 2,500 square metres of open deck with no roof. This is what makes Shibuya Sky different, and what closes when the weather turns.
The north-west corner where the barrier is glass and vanishes in photographs. Busiest spot on the roof — worth waiting for.
Enclosed floor below the roof with bar, seating and the same view through glass. Where you go when the roof shuts.
Curved steps with light in the treads, and net hammocks over artificial grass — most of the photos you have seen come from here.
14F gate
Timed scan, security and the start of the Sky Gate experience.
Sky Gate → 45F / 46F
Immersive lift and indoor Sky Gallery with city views through glass.
Lockers (46F)
Mandatory bag drop before the open-air Sky Stage.
Sky Stage rooftop
360° open deck — closes in rain, wind or lightning while the gallery stays open.
1 · Shibuya Station → Scramble Square
Follow signs to Shibuya Scramble Square above the station (Tokyo Metro exit B6 is a common route). Allow 10–20 minutes from the platform if it is your first visit.
2 · Dedicated SHIBUYA SKY lift
Use the outdoor SHIBUYA SKY lift at the 1F Hikarie-side entrance — it runs directly to the 14F ticket gate. On busy weekends the lift may skip the 2F stop; use the 1F lift then.
3 · Ticket scan & lockers
Show your QR at 14F, then store bags at the 46F lockers before the open rooftop. Tripods and selfie sticks stay off the Sky Stage.
Do not go to the Sky Lobby on 11F of Shibuya Hikarie — that is a different building. SHIBUYA SKY is only in Scramble Square.

Pick a 20-minute slot that starts about 40–60 minutes before sunset so you have time for the lift, lockers and a spot on the roof. All rows below use the evening price band (entry from 15:00).
