The signature Sky Stage is open-air. Lightning, heavy rain or strong wind can shut the roof while the indoor Sky Gallery stays open — tickets generally stay valid without automatic refunds.
Sky Stage (229 m open deck): can close for guest safety in rain, high wind or lightning. Staff reopen when conditions allow — there is no fixed daily shutdown time beyond official closing hours.
Sky Gallery and indoor zones: typically remain open so you still get city views through glass if the roof is off limits.
After you enter, partial closure of the rooftop does not automatically trigger refunds — venue policy treats this as weather risk.
Admission is single-entry with a 20-minute gate window and no re-entry once you leave. You cannot “come back later” the same day if the roof reopens after you exit.
Check the hourly wind and thunder forecast for Shibuya on the morning of your visit. Light drizzle may still close the deck even when indoor areas feel busy.
If the forecast is solid rain all day, compare indoor-first decks — see our Tokyo observation deck comparison — or keep Sky for a clearer day.
